Community
Technology Center (CTC)
In February 2004, AACF received
funding from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic
Opportunity's Bridging The Digital Divide Program and the IT
Resource Center to establish a Community Technology Center (CTC).
The initial outcomes of the program were consistent with the
provisions of the Illinois Eliminate The Digital Divide Law, which
was passed to increase technology literacy. The primary objective of
the Bridging The Digital Divide Program is to assist low-income
persons to acquire basic technology skills, and to increase the use
of computers and software to organize, create, access and transmit
information.
Over 215 community residents have utilized the Center
during the five-months since the center held its May open house. The
ultimate goal of the program is to assist residents in competing for
employment in the emerging digital economy. Area community based
organizations utilize the Center's resources to assist their
clients.
Our CTC offers a variety of computer
