Job Training
Programs
AACF has two programs that assist
residents of Cook County to obtain self-sufficiency. The Core Direct
Placement Program assists walk-in clients with direct job placement
services. The Career & Employment Assistance Program (CEAP) provides
career planning through workshops, on-the-job training and full-time
job placement service. CEAP focuses on client job placement with
particular emphasis on those considered "hard to serve". The program
provides the following services to clients:
The Career & Employment Assistance
Program (CEAP) consists of mandatory four-week job readiness
workshops and computer classes
followed by job placement assistance. Workshop speakers from local
companies and civic organizations present and discuss special topics
that are relevant to program participants (i.e., family law,
domestic violence, criminal record expungements, etc.). The
four-week curriculum includes sessions on:
- Orientation, assessment and
testing
- Job Readiness Skills (i.e.,
resume preparation, interviewing skills, completing job
application, etc.)
- Life Skills (i.e., coping
skills, money management, building self esteem, childcare,
transportation, etc.)
- Interpersonal Skills (i.e.,
relationship building, workplace communication, conflict
resolution, etc.)
- Computer Based Skills (i.e.,
Microsoft Word and Excel, Microsoft Windows, Internet
navigation)
